MPIPP Update: New Website, Facebook, Safe Schools Seminar

Update from the Michigan Project for Informed Public Policy (MPIPP)
A cooperative program of the Michigan Psychological Association, the MPA Foundation, The American Psychological Association and The Rockway Institute at Alliant International University.

6/3/09

From Sara Van Wormer, Project Coordinator

We are very pleased to announce the launch of our MPIPP website. Included in the website is a description of our project, public policy issues we are currently addressing, links to LGBT advocacy groups, and current and archived email newsletters. We will add more features as we build the website. Please take a look: www.mpipp.org. Also, please be advised of my new email address: sara@mpipp.org. I will continue to send updates on our project through this new email address.

MPIPP is also now on Facebook. You can join by logging into Facebook and searching under: Michigan Project for Informed Public Policy. We will be regularly updating this page with project-related activity information. We are hopeful that our volunteers will be able to see what is happening with the project. It also helps put “a face with a name” regarding project volunteers and personnel.

Finally, I received word from the National Safe Schools Coalition about a roundtable webinar to be held tomorrow. It is entitled, “Utilizing Social Media in the Safe Schools Movement” and the information about it can be found below:

Topic:         Utilizing Social Media in the Safe Schools Movement
When:        June 4, 2009
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST
Facilitator:  Deanna Zandt (http://www.deannazandt.com/)

The webinar will have a conference call component and a power point presentation to follow along with. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Young at syoung@aclu-ms.org.
